Aeon Mark Installation

24th October 2013

Leyland Masonic Hall was the venue for the event which saw Stewart Seddon install his successor, Bro Howard Lilley, into the Chair of Aeon Lodge.  Stewart, the hard-working and popular Chairman of the Leyland and District Craft Group, performed in an absolutely exemplary manner.

Many well known Mark men were there to witness, and take part in, a great ceremony. Chris Wild, the hard-working secretary of the Lodge, and also Prov.GSD this year, did a great job in organising the whole day. The Representing Officer, Giles Berkley Prov.GSW was especially appreciative of his help and guidance, as this was his first time out as the principal guest.  Giles was more than happy to see his good friend David Winder (Asst.PGM in Craft) move up to Master Overseer, and witness Doug Little retain his place as guest organist; Peter Taylor PSGD (PrGSec in Craft) a past DC of the Lodge, was also there as a past master to heckle and cheer his friend in equal measures!  The working tools were delivered by Bro. Gordon McKay in an exemplary manner.

After dinner Giles did mention other friends, including Mike Beesley, also a past DC of the lodge, who does a first class job on our Provincial website, keeping it up to date and extremely informative. Paul Snape was also in attendance, the Special Representative who looks after no less than 8 local Mark Lodges and 6 RAM Lodges for our PGM. Steve Clarke, Deputy Sword Bearer for the Province was also there, helping Joe O'Brien, who has a bad back at present, by running the Provincial tie, badge and cufflink sales. Howard Emmett, Provincial Charity Steward, advertised the Children's Christmas party at Leyland on December 8th, which is being organised by Paul Snape, details available on the website.

This Lodge was once known as a fine dining Lodge, with many courses of fine cuisine, and Leyland did us proud with a more standard fare on this occasion. Everyone left the hall with a wonderful memory of a fantastic ceremony, and a very friendly festive board. Now the Lodge can get down to more hard work with three candidates already proposed for the coming season.
